All evacuation orders lifted in Plaquemines Parish Wednesday

Plaquemines Parish officials lifted all evacuation orders in place throughout the area on Wednesday morning.

While the West Bank’s order was lifted Tuesday, officials said the East Bank was still under an order due to water on HWY 39 in the Carlisle area, along with the closure of the HWY 39 Flood Gate.

Throughout the week water levels affected the parish as Hurricane Sally made way through Louisiana.

Larry “Mouse” Louviere, a Plaquemines Parish resident said “We are fortunate. This is the second one, really the third with Laura and Marco. That uh, we dodged a bullet.”

Officials said government buildings would resume operations Wednesday. Also all schools in Belle Chase were expected to reopen.

Officials said schools however within South Plaquemines Parish would remain closed until further notice.
