The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that involved a deputy in Metairie.

Officials said this happened around 7 p.m. Saturday in the 6500 block of Park Manor Drive.

Officials said deputies were responding to a disturbance at an apartment complex.

They approached the suspect who went inside an apartment.

Officials said the suspect then came out and pointed a gun at deputies.

At least one officer fired his gun at the suspect, and the suspect went back inside.

JPSO officials say a crisis management unit was activated, and began securing the scene. After the team was in place, deputies say the suspect exited the apartment again and pointed a firearm at deputies. At least one deputy fired at the suspect on this occasion, officials said.

At around 10:30 p.m, the CMU breached the door as part of continued attempts to negotiate with the suspect, according to JPSO officials. A few minutes later, deputies entered the apartment and found the suspect dead.

A firearm was recovered from the immediate vicinity of the suspect.

The incident remains under investigation.
