A Slidell man is in custody after a brief pursuit Tuesday with police, according to the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office.
Around 11 a.m. a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry driven by Treyvon Warren in the area of Amos Road near Slidell, according to the sheriff.
The sheriff said Warren failed to stop and instead sped down Amos Road, turning onto Highway 11.
While driving at a high rate of speed, Warren lost control of the vehicle and the Camry flipped coming to rest upside down, just south of Spiehler Road, according to the sheriff’s report.
The sheriff said Warren fled the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot but was quickly captured by deputies and taken into custody.
He was transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Upon his release, he will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the following charges:
- Texting while driving
- Driving under suspension
- Aggravated flight from officer
He will also be booked on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court, according to the sheriff.
